Buddy In Your Cage

Jul 27, 2025

A study was done a few years back where Chimpanzees were set up in a laboratory to gain a greater understand on how stress affects people emotionally, physically and psychologically. Blood samples were taken from the chimps before and after the test.  The stress test involved bombarding the chimps in their cages with loud acid rock music, sirens and flashing lights. The blood samples after showed that their cortisol levels were extremely high and other chemicals markers were out of balance showing significant damage and harm to the chimps if they continued to live under this kind of stress. Later the researchers discovered that when they put a “buddy” chimp into the cage, the two chimps’ negative blood markers were cut in half from the previous test. Having a buddy in your cage can bring about healing benefits and positive outcomes.

I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather togetheras my followers, I am there among them.”  Matt. 18:19,20

Over and over in scripture we find the advantage of two working together in agreement, or two by two followers being sent out to spread the gospel, or it’s not good for one to be alone. Having a buddy in your cage brings aboutagreement in prayer. When we activate agreement, we see that the beauty of Jesus makes himself known. This reminds me of another insightful scripture on this subject.

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Eccl. 4:12

When Jesus comes to two who have agreed in prayer and obedience, the relational dynamics change and becomes a three braided cord that cannot be easily severed.  This word picture shows a relationship of extreme strength, uncommon usefulness, and battle superiority. Don’t do life on your own, find a buddy in your cage, be a buddy for another brother or sister in Christ. Pray together over the concerns of your life and see Jesus come among you and strengthen you and establish his authority.
