We Will Not Forget

May 25, 2025

The following psalm mentions that the Israelites forgot the miracles that God did in Egypt, the sea parting, and other acts of provision and protection. This forgetfulness led to their disobedience and rebellion against God.

They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them. Ps. 78:11

If they could forget all these amazing wonders of God, so could you and I forget as well. And the outcome would be the same as the Israelites, a hardness of heart and disobedience. But let’s say we won’t forget, and make it a habit to remember and declare the wonders of God’s grace and works in our daily lives. What would be the outcome if we think and give thanks for the big or small wonders in our experience?

What happens when you recall and ponder God’s acts of goodness? You change your mindset, your thinking, and it actually alters your brain chemistry. Proven studies have shown that you remap your brain and emotions that results in health. This action brings about a clearer perspective. When you recall God’s wonders, this process humbles you; for you see his hand involved in your ordinary life, and the result is that worship and thanksgiving begin to flow. And when you worship, when you choose to lift him up, he will in turn lift you up. You develop greater trust in God because you see what he has done before, so why wouldn’t he be faithful again. He is the same today and he’s got the present covered. Confidence and courage start to set in.

So let’s purpose to make place in our schedule and family for intentional times of remembering and retelling the good things he has done in our lives, the moments of beauty, grace and even the times of pain when you have experienced his redeeming plan. The benefits are truly multitude, and the heart finds a tenderness that keeps us from wayward attitudes and hurtful choices.
