Sailing

There are a few things that really constrict the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and one of the main ones is complaining. Complaining robs contentment and asks,“Why me?” When we’re complaining and grumbling, we are either shifting the blame away from ourselves and placing it on another, oftentimes God himself, or we are frustrated and the complaining shifts our focus away from where our Father is working and how we need to align with the Holy Spirit. 

You cooperate with the Holy Spirit when you ask, “What are you up too, or where are you working in all this?”

Job had reason to grumble and complain for the undeserved cards that were dealt to him. But he didn’t. 

Look at his response to God: 

Teach me what I cannot see, Job 34:32a

Instead of, “Why me?” say, “What do you see? Instruct myheart, show me your ways and I will be changed.”

 In scripture, Jesus mentions that the Holy Spirit is like the wind, using this metaphor to show us how the Holy Spirit functions in our lives. 

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)

So can I encourage you that when the storms of challenge blow heavy in your life, when you would like to question or complain, choose to raise the sail in your heart and soul by listening, and see if you don’t catch the wind of the spirit, moving you forward in your great adventure of following Jesus.
