Put Me In Coach

May 18, 2025

There was once a professional baseball player who had all the skills and was scouted as a strong and gifted athlete. Though the report concluded that his ability was of an excellent player, in truth he just wasn’t playing up to his potential. So he was a non-starter and rode the bench. After some time he decided that no matter the outcome he would change his entitled attitude and practice hard, buy into the team approach and participate all out. The coach noticed a difference, so in a losing game he put him into the line-up. And the young man played hard with passion and fire. He hustled and was like a human vacuum swallowing up the ground balls that came his way. And up at the plate he was a monster, hit line drives and ran the bases with purpose and excitement. The team ended up coming from behind and winning the game. After the game the coach pulled the young player aside and asked “What got into you?” His response was that he changed his attitude and decided to practice hard and if given the chance to play he would leave it all out there. And then he told the coach that his father, who was blind all his life, had recently passed away. And the young player realized that for the first time his father now in Heaven could watch him play baseball.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Gal. 6:9

If you are weary of praying, or tired of loving your crazy neighbor, or worn down from making the right loving choices that don’t seem to make any difference, don’t give up, stay in the game, keep your attitude right, for your father in Heaven is watching  He’s keeping the books. He knows.

For your mental and spiritual health I encourage you to leave the outcome to the Lord of the Harvest and practice life like the team depends on it. Keep moving forward and remember in due time our father is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
