Vitamin Water

Just 80 miles from where I live in the city of Flagstaff is the lifeblood of the American Southwest, the Colorado River. This river serves as a critical resource for 40 million people across seven U.S. states and Mexico. Spanning 1,450 miles, it sustains urban centers, massive agricultural operations, and diverse desert ecosystems, driving an economy valued at $1.4 trillion. That’s amazing. It is a very important resource in its own right, generating power for electricity, a quarter million jobs and produces $26 billion in economic output from recreational activities, drawing revenue from the 5.3 million adults who use the Colorado River for such activities each year, creating memories and experiences of life.

“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” John 7:38-39

The word picture the Lord Jesus uses in so captivating and dynamic. “Rivers of living water.” He is speaking of the presence of the Holy Spirit given to anyone who believes in him. He doesn’t say one river, but rivers will flow and the quality of the water is life giving, healthy, cleansing and restorative. Multiple tributaries of freshwater that have the chemistry to bring healing to the broken, sight to the blind, hope to the lonely and freedom to the oppressed flow from within the believer. May we renew our heart and mind with this elevated understanding, that truly greater is he that is in you than he that’s in the world. You have a wealth of fresh life and love to share to the various needs you encounter in your job, neighborhood, church and family. It’s not by your ability or knowledge. It is the work of Holy Spirit given to anyone who puts their trust in Jesus. Let’s go out and create some wonderful memories and experiences of life at the river.
